Make Turning In Bed Easier

Make Turning In Bed Easier

Do you or your family member find it difficult to turn in bed? The Wondersheet might help!

We are often asked about how to make turning in bed easier. Our recommendation is the Wondersheet. The Wondersheet was designed by its founder to help her father with Parkinson's, who found it increasingly difficult to turn over on standard cotton sheets. Using a strategically-placed satin panel, this easy turn sheet is functional without sacrificing comfort.

What is Wondersheet?

The Wondersheet is a therapeutic tool that makes turning in bed or getting in and out of bed easier. It helps with bed mobility by reducing the friction between the body and the bed surface. The strategically-placed satin panel is low friction and is designed to sit under your shoulders, back and hips. This makes pivoting and turning easier by allowing you to slide your body to the edge of the bed or to shift position without having to lift your hips.

How does the Wondersheet help?

  • It makes turning or getting in and out of bed easier
  • It enhances independence while improving the quality of life
  • It reduces the risk of back injuries of carers because repositioning is easier
  • It can reduce the risk of skin breakdown that cause pressure ulcers
  • It can work in conjunction with other equipment, such as a bed pole
  • It enhances a comfortable sleep because it helps with fatigue management

The Wondersheet comes in two designs: The Wondersheet Original and the Wondersheet +Plus. Both designs have a glossy charmeuse satin panel and a 50/50 blend of cotton/polyester fabric. The Wondersheet is functional, yet also beautiful to sleep on.

The Wondersheet Original is the original design. It has a satin panel, which is 90cm long, that strategically sits under your shoulders, back, and hips. The satin section is only in the middle of the sheet–so don’t worry, your feet won’t get too hot! The top and bottom sheeting panels stop any unwanted sliding. The Wondersheet Original is available in a soft gold & ecru colour combination.

A tweak on the original design, the Wondersheet +Plus has a buffer around the sides, top, and bottom of the sheet for extra grip when moving in bed. This was requested by Allied Health practitioners in the community who wanted additional stability for their patients. The satin panel, which is 90cm long, is centred on the sheet, 17cm away from each side. The Wondersheet +Plus gives comfort to those wanting extra grip at the sides of the bed and better independence. The Wondersheet +Plus is available in white.

Both designs are available in a range of bed sizes, from Single to King, with the option of a 35cm or 45cm depth for the best fit. Both designs come in an Easy Turn Sheet or an Easy Turn Fitted Sheet option. There are also matching pillowcases.

Who Can Benefit?

The Wondersheet can benefit anybody who is having difficulty turning in bed. Anyone at any age can experience better movement in bed with the Wondersheet.

Families and carers can use the Wondersheet to make manual handling safer and easier, and more comfortable for their family members or client.

The Wondersheet is a significant help to those in the post-operative period, including post hip replacement or those with fractures, who have difficulty turning or shifting position during the night.

People with neurological conditions can also benefit from the Wondersheet, where it may be difficult to move or grip the bed and stabilise their body for movement in bed.

The Wondersheet can also be very useful for the older demographic, where mobility limitations are increasingly prevalent.

It can be helpful for conditions, including (but not limited to):

  • Parkinson's disease
  • Motor neurone disease (MND)
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Stroke
  • Chronic arthritis
  • Chronic pain or disability
  • Spinal cord injury

  • Bariatric situations
  • Deconditioning and weakness

How long will it last?

The Wondersheet is designed to be very durable. Depending on how often it is used, it can last for 5+ years.  If you look after your Wondersheet and follow the washing and care instructions, then it can last a lot longer.

Where can I get a Wondersheet?
