What is a Bariatric Wheelchair?

Bariatric Wheelchairs have been designed to support heavier users and have been specifically designed and constructed to allow for a larger weight range. At Breeze Mobility we will only sell a bariatric Wheelchair which features a strong frame, robust design and comfortable supportive seat.

When choosing a Bariatric Wheelchair, you should consider the following features:

Size

Although weight may be a sensitive topic, it is essential you choose a chair that is the correct size and has a suitable maximum weight. Using a chair of the right size ensures not only comfort but safety for both the client and carer.

Style

Bariatric Wheelchairs are commonly available in two styles – Self-Propelled and transit. For regular clients, a Self-Propelled chair is often preferred. Transit chairs are designed for less frequent and casual use.
